Imagine yourself in a few months’ time; It’s a weekday morning and you’re making a cup of tea whilst trying to persuade the kids to eat their breakfasts and get ready for school. As you put packed lunches into their bags and check you can find your car keys you smile to yourself. On the surface not much has changed, it’s an ordinary day, but inside everything has changed – you have a glow of hope and excitement about the future. You’ve discovered your reason for being on this planet and feel certain of what you want to achieve in your life.
This is what coaching can do for you.
Then picture yourself in 5 years time looking back to this time; you made plans, you saved, you were brave and took steps you didn’t think were possible and now you’re living your dreams. You said ‘no’ to the things that didn’t suit you and the things you just did because you thought you should. It hasn’t been easy but you are truer to yourself, living more authentically and basing decisions on what you really value and your purpose.
This is the power of coaching.
What is Coaching?
Sometimes it’s easier to define coaching by what it isn’t rather than what it is; for example it’s not mentoring (someone with greater wisdom and experience giving advice) or counselling (working through issues in the past to find ways to overcome them).
In a coaching relationship the coach helps the coachee find the wisdom within themselves. The coach may use specific coaching models, tools or methods but the key skill is using open questions to enable the coachee to find their own solutions and way forward.
The role of the coach is to facilitate a conversation, to encourage, challenge and provide accountability.
How does coaching work?
Coaching is led by the coachee – so we will always start by finding out what it is you want to talk about. I have specific programmes for key themes but we can work together on any topic you would like.
If you decide to work with me I’ll ask you to complete a pre-coaching questionnaire so I can get to know you and we’ll have a thorough chat before we start to set expectations and boundaries. We’ll decide whether we will meet in person or over Zoom (or other video/audio tool) and establish a regular time and frequency for the sessions.
The technique I prefer uses visualisation and imagination to connect to your true self. It can be an emotional experience but my sessions are a gentle, safe and confidential space for you to be truly you.
Who is it for?
Everyone! You will never regret investing in yourself and your future.
Why would I have coaching?
Coaching is great for removing the clouds, helping you to see things more clearly and connecting with your heart. It will provide you with support and encouragement to discover, define and reach for your goals so you can make the most of life.
Coaching isn’t however, about dealing with the past – it positively looks to the future. So there may be situations where seeing another professional would be beneficial before embarking on coaching.
